But with all the well-established brands in the stores, this would be a very daunting task to take on. Shortly afterwards I established Arctic Edge as a sole trader and started working.
In the fall of 2013 I established Arctic Edge as sole trader. I had already sketched my first products many months ago but was looking for the right manufacturer. I knew that I wanted to make the items in New Zealand, a country famous for its wool of exceptional quality. Many manufacturers didn't take me seriously since I had no sales track record, but eventually one manufacturer took a chance on me ... and let's say the rest is history :)
My first batch of wool beanies (made from a luxurious blend of 60% pure New Zealand merino wool, 30% possum fur and 10% silk) went on sale in December 2013 at the Longyearbyen Christmas fair. Before I knew it I had already sold out and I knew that I had something special in my hands. Local shops quickly took notice and the business grew from there.
Currently Arctic Edge products are sold in the northernmost and southernmost shops in the world, even worn by the Queen of Norway - but that is another story ;)
