The Trapper Collection is the definitive collection for everyday expeditions and ready to tackle any cold climate.
These neck gaiters are slightly longer and wider than the original Svalbard collection, and have a slightly denser knit. They provide total neck and lower face coverage and have a high degree of wind resistance. They are luxuriously soft, yet durable and extremely comfortable. They are a firm favourite amount Svalbard guides in the winter time.
Like other Arctic Edge neck gaiters, there simply is nothing else like it on the market.
Dimensions: 23 cm wide x 31 cm tall, 78 g
The story of the Trapper Collection :
The pattern is inspired from the clothing worn by Dutch whalers who navigated to Svalbard during the early and mid 17th century. The work was hard and the conditions were treacherous, and many men lost their lives on these journeys into unchartered waters. The West coast of Svalbard hosts a handful of burial sites. Remarkably some of the whalers' clothing is still intact - preserved by the permafrost. At the site of Smeerenburg and Ytre Norskøya excavations were carried out in the 1980s and some of their clothing can today be found at the Svalbard Museum in Longyearbyen.
This garment is made using a luxurious blend of ZQ merino wool, New Zealand Brushtail Possum fibres, and Mulberry silk.
The ZQ merino wool is ethically sourced from free range sheep in New Zealand and Australia and is guaranteed non-mulesing. The Possum is a non-native, invasive animal to New Zealand and causes immense harm to the country’s natural flora and fauna. The fibres sourced are a by-product of the national eradication program.
